Customer activity

The Noroc company is a troupe made up of top-level equestrian athletes.

We collaborated with director Anthony Bro-Petit, a former member of the same company, to create a unique project, "The Raft of the Medusa", inspired by Jericho's famous painting.

The context and purpose of the project

The project was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of immortalizing the work and technical and artistic essence of the Noroc competition team in their new equestrian vaulting issue. The main objective was to showcase equestrian vaulting through the vision of the Noroc company.

Collaboration with director and cinematographer Anthony Bro Petit was essential to realizing the project's creative vision.

‍Music universerequested by customer

The desire for an orchestral, cinematic musical universe with alternative orchestral/dub step elements was obvious. This orchestral/dub step sound palette was constructed using instruments such as strings, brass, choir and percussion to match the intensity of the image.  

The process

The music creation process began in parallel with a first version of the video. This approach enabled the music to be adjusted in line with the visual narrative, reinforcing transitions and narrative changes. The team worked on rising moments to match the more dynamic technical element scenes.

The music was designed to match the video's slow-motion and acceleration effects. A dub step rhythm was incorporated to highlight the high-flying technical elements and vary the emotion between moments of power, tension and lightness.

The power and melancholy of the choirs and violins were used to create a singular, modern version of the narrative, in relation to the power of the ocean, and to reinforce the drama of the painting's symbolism.

The director adjusted the slow motion and acceleration effects to synchronize perfectly with the musical beats, creating a harmonious fusion between music and image.

The final stage of the process involved mixing and mastering all the instrumental elements and sound effects to ensure that the emotion was optimally conveyed in the final cut of the video.

This project illustrates the importance of collaboration between different artistic fields, including music, video and equestrian vaulting, to create an immersive and captivating visual and auditory experience. The end result was to offer a unique and spectacular representation of equestrian vaulting through the combination of a carefully crafted orchestral/dubstep soundtrack and synchronized visual narration.

‍Anecdote: This same video enabled Compagnie Noroc to be detected for France a un incroyable talent season 16, where it made it all the way to the semi-finals.
